RAPORT DE SITUATIE - 26 martie 2020

Dar in Europa altceva pare iminent pentru viitorul apropiat  si tine de geopolitica . Aflat la stramtoare, continentul european ( mai précis UE ) a raspuns  in ultimele doua saptamani  in mod  dezordonat asaltului Covid-19 , in primul rand prin inchiderea granitelor. Simtindu-i slabiciunea , marii jucatori sistemici nu au ezitat sa ia masuri in propriul interes. Rusia a inceput acum cateva zile sa urmeze exemplul chinez.

US and Europe diverge on trade and many others – is Central and Eastern Europe feeling the pain?

The battle lines are already drawn and it is getting worse – the US administration and European leaders are permanently expanding the list of contentious issues. Most of the countries in the Central and Eastern European region have been trying to avoid taking sides openly in the dispute, although it has been an increasingly difficult game. After all, until not long ago EU and NATO expansion were processes progressing almost simultaneously, and the transatlantic links were rather an enabler. Are the transatlantic controversies going to impact the business climate in the region?

REINVENTAREA STANGII EUROPENE ?

Noua stea a laburismului britanic se numeste Jeremy Corbyn, iar alegerile viitoare- in toamna acestui an- ar putea sa-i confere titlul de lider. Este interesant  ca in ultimul timp – asa cum de altfel este normal- in fata ascensiunii si popularitatii sale s-a interpus un baraj de intrebari referitoare la pozitiile sale atat in domeniul politicii interne si externe. . Cu deosebire, orientarile sale in exterior au atras atentia , au devenit extrem de  dezbatute si au si provocat luari de pozitie ale unor personaje extrem de influente si cu trecut insemnat in istoria laburismului britanic.

S300 for Iran - does it help stability?

Does Putin believe that delivery of S300 systems for Iran will help Middle East stability?
By Ivan Lungu

President Putin's announcement on the authorisation of sales of S300 missile systems to Iran generated an unpleasant surprise in Israel, US and most of the European states. HARNESSING THE GEOPOLITICS OF THE EASTERN PARTNERSHIP: A WAY OUT FROM THE EAST EUROPEAN DEADLOCK?

HARNESSING THE GEOPOLITICS OF THE EASTERN PARTNERSHIP: A WAYOUT FROM THE EAST EUROPEAN DEADLOCK?

George Vlad NICULESCU
On 7 May 2009, the EU summit with its Eastern European Partners (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine) in Prague launched the Eastern Partnership with a view to developing a specific Eastern European dimension of the European Neighborhood Policy (ENP). It aimed at creating conditions for accelerating political association and further economic integration of the six former Soviet countries. Concluding new Association Agreements, establishing Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Areas, developing Comprehensive Institution-Building programs, supporting the mobility of citizens and visa liberalization were deemed as key elements to meeting those ends. The Eastern Partnership has also aimed at further promoting stability and multilateral confidence building, in particular by seeking peaceful settlements to "frozen" conflicts, and by helping partner countries developing closer ties among themselves.
